Troubleshooting

Fix common Petalz issues

Use these checks for invitations, notifications, video uploads, Auto-Play, permissions, and tablet setup.

Unable to join an existing pod

Check whether the user created an account first

If a new user tries to sign in before creating an account, Petalz may show an error or say the account cannot be found.

  1. Open the Petalz login screen.
  2. Select “Don’t have an account? Click Here.”
  3. Create the account using the same email address that received the pod invitation.
  4. Sign in normally.

Check whether the Sponsor invited the email address first

If the email address was not invited, Petalz may treat the user as someone creating a brand new pod.

  • Ask the Sponsor to invite the correct email address.
  • If testing caused an email conflict, use a plus-address variation such as johndoe+1@gmail.com.

Sponsors should send invitations before asking family members to create accounts.

Notifications are not working

  1. Confirm notifications are enabled in the device settings for Petalz.
  2. Confirm the device has internet access.
  3. Check Petalz notification settings inside the app.
  4. Restart the app.
  5. Restart the device.
  6. Confirm battery-saving settings are not blocking notifications.

Device settings also control access to location, contacts, photos, camera, and microphone.

Videos will not upload

Possible causes include weak internet, a video file that is too large, or insufficient device storage.

  1. Try again on Wi-Fi.
  2. Confirm the device has enough available storage.
  3. Try a shorter video if the file is very large.
  4. Restart the app and try the upload again.

Auto-Play stops running

Auto-Play is designed for an ongoing ambient connection experience, but device settings can pause or restrict long-running apps.

  • Keep the device plugged in.
  • Keep the device connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Check device sleep settings.
  • Disable battery optimization or power-saving restrictions for Petalz where possible.
  • Confirm the device has enough memory and is not closing background processes.

Dedicated Petalz tablets include additional configuration for long-term playback stability.

Camera, microphone, photos, contacts, or location are not working

These permissions are controlled by the phone or tablet operating system.

  1. Open device settings.
  2. Find Petalz in the app list.
  3. Enable the needed permission: notifications, photos, camera, microphone, contacts, or location.
  4. Reopen Petalz.

If permissions were denied during first setup and cannot be changed cleanly, reinstalling the app may trigger the permission prompts again. Your pod data is not deleted by reinstalling the app.
